Komvux

If you would like to add new subjects to your basic education /secondary education or if you are interested in improving your grades you can turn to Komvux – the municipal adult education centre. Komvux has a long tradition of adult education. After a decision of the Swedish parliament in 1967, Komvux started its own school form in 1968. An important goal for Komvux is to supply the Swedish labour market with well educated and competent people. Komvux offers courses as well as entire education programs. To make studying more easily accessible Komvux allows students to study full time, part time, daytime, night time or at distance.

University studies

Cooperation across subject and faculty borders and an entrepreneurial spirit of education is the hallmark of Linköping University (LiU). Since its foundation in the 1970’s, the university has established itself as an innovative and modern institution in both education and research.

During the past decade LiU has experienced rapid growth, involving the establishment of a new campus in the twin city of Norrköping. With a student population of 25 000 and 3 500 employees LiU is one of the major universities in Sweden. LiU offers education at basic (Bachelor’s), advanced (Master’s) levels and PhD level. A variety of programmes of continuing education at Master’s level taught in Swedish or English give students an opportunity to gain the competitive edge that can spur a professional career. Post-secondary vocational education

Advanced Vocational Education (KY- kvalificerad yrkesutbildning) is a post-secondary education. KY is closely linked with the labour market and cooperates with industry and other education providers to make sure that the education is continuously adapted to meet the business worlds’ needs. The idea is that KY is only available when and where it is needed. Most courses are in engineering and manufacturing, finance, healthcare, tourism and restaurant. There are also courses in IT, construction, agriculture, forestry and horticulture, art and media, food, environment, transport, timber, and in a number of smaller occupations.

Folk high school

Folk high schools are an alternative to Komvux. They offer education corresponding to primary and secondary education and may lead to the same privileges as the adult education / upper secondary school. Folk High School offers no academic credits. All tuition is free of charge at the Folk High Schools. You pay for literature, material, food and drink. And if it is a boarding school - board and lodging costs about 4 000 SEK per month.
